The containment wall of the Lake of Valencia is about to collapse, threatening to leave under waters served to the cities of Valencia and Maracay. This is the largest environmental problem in Latin America, as wastewater replenishes the Lake, increasing its level. Waters rise above or below the wall, exit through sewers and flood residential areas. It is a problem denounced since 1999 that has not received a response from the national government.
